Honeywell HHT-011 Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter

Quiet and powerful air purifier with no filters to replace5

I have other ionic air cleaners as well as one that requires a filter. This air purifier is quiet and due to its compact size can be placed off the floor on a bookcase dresser top or top shelf which makes it optimal for space-saving and placement. I don't particularly like the noise from air filters and they have a tendency to keep me up.

After spending many dollars on replacement filters and new air cleaners when the filter is no longer made or easily available this is a welcome addition with a permanent cleanable filter. I bought two of these one for my bedroom and one for the living room. Set on low all of the time it is great as it just sounds like a little white noise and is not noticable most of the time. The optional ionic on and off switch night light as well as the automated light indicating that the filter should be cleaned is a BONUS besides the low price. So far I am enjoying cleaner air in an old dusty house with 3 cats and 2 dogs...

I have bought the Sharper Image ionic breeze for the bathroom and find it hard to clean and hope that when I have to clean this filter. Good value for the money.More detail ...

Honeywell 38002 Enviracare Universal Replacement Pre-Filter

Pre-Filter Fits All Honeywell HEPA Air Cleaners5

I follow the manufacturer's recommendation to change the pre-filter every 3 months on all my Honeywell Air Cleaners with HEPA filters. These replacement filters come boxed in a set of two. The pre-filter simply wraps around the round HEPA filter which is inside the unit and attaches to itself by means of two velcro fasteners. It takes less than five minutes to change the pre-filter. In between changes I vacuum my pre-filters to remove accumulated dust and pet hair from them. These pre-filters do help to remove some odors from rooms especially if you are able to keep the space enclosed where you have the air cleaner running.

Be sure to keep a box or two of these pre-filters on hand in case they become back ordered. The HEPA filter needs to be changed in 1-3 years depending on conditions where it is located.More detail ...

Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier

Portable Air Cleaner with HEPA Filter is Whisper Soft5

As someone who is highly allergic to cigarette smoke and other air pollutants and irritants I purchased a round Honeywell HEPA air filter when it first came on the market several years ago. It still works well in the living room but it is quite noisy even on its lowest setting.

This year I purchased another Honeywell air cleaner with a HEPA filter (Model 17400) for my bedroom because I had contacted bacterial pneumonia last year and wanted to make sure I did not get it again. Next I purchased this Honeywell 17000 Air Cleaner (with HEPA filter) for use in a smaller bedroom which has been turned into a home office and library.

These air cleaners really work! This winter I have not had a cold or flu. Also this Honeywell Air Cleaner with HEPA filter is whisper soft and I have had no problems with sleeping working reading watching tv or listening to music when it is running on the low and medium settings. I leave it on all the time and I've found that it cleans the air best when the door is closed.

It has a convenient handle on the top so I can move it to another room quite easily. Also it is light enough that I can take it with me in the car if I want to use it away from home.

The prefilters last about 3-6 months (and they can be vacuumed often if you have pets who shed). I change my HEPA filter every year but you can wait 3 years to do so. These filters are easy to change. The Model 17000 is for a smaller room and the Model 17400 is for a larger space.

Highly recommended for anyone who has pets who lives with or entertains people who smoke and who is allergic to dust molds or pollens.More detail ...

Honeywell 18155 SilentComfort Permanent True HEPA Air Purifier

FANTASTIC and VERY QUIET...5

"HONEYWELL: 18155 SilentComfort Air Purifier"

First off I'd like to say that this is the only air purifier I've ever owned so I cannot compare it fairly to others so I won't even try. But I've read dozens of reviews about the Honeywell QuietCare 17000 and noticed the main complaint is that it's not really queit at all. Well...I hope this helps.

As far as the noise level goes this SilentComfort 18155 is very quiet on MED and LOW. On HIGH right next to it it's about as loud as our dishwasher about 30 feet away. So it's not bad at all. I can still hear the television and have normal conversations with the family without yelling.

I've done some of my own studies to see how well the dust is being pulled into the machine and can see there is dust building up in the pre-filter over time. It seems to work very well. I've also noticed a difference on how fresh the air smells. My sneezing is almost down to zero when it's running and that tells me it's really working.

It does NOT have an IONIZER which IS A GOOD THING in my opinion. I've learned that these ionizers omit ozone. Which inside the home this ozone builds up and can be very harmful to the lungs. I did NOT like the sound of that so I turned away from the "ionizer" models.

It is very sturdy a little bulky but not too heavy to put in other rooms from time to time when I feel the need to relocate it. It blows cold air not like a fan and not too direct at a 360 degree radius(it also pulls from every direction). The cold air will be nice in the summer but it's not so nice right now in the winter. I like to put it next to the bed and it can get a little chilly when my covers come off. It has a very comforting and relaxing white noise hum to it. The motor runs very soft and consistant. No rattling or buzzing of any kind. It seems very well built.

MY ONLY CONCERN is that the return/exhaust does NOT blow straight up. It blows outword on the top/sides and it pulls from the bottom. This may be a brilliant design or a serious flaw? I question...is it just filtering the same air over and over again or is it like a vortex that pulls the dust into it with the pushing air(kind of like a tornado)? In my studies I found that was a tough call for me to make. But it really does help with my allergies so I must conclude that it's working properly.

I ordered it directly from Amazon and it arrived in 4 days(that includes the weekend) and that was with the FREE SUPERSAVER SHIPPING. Amazon is always fantastic about that so no complaints there.

OVERALL... I am very pleased though it may be a little early to give a longevity review right now the HoneyWell SilentComfort 18155 really seems to work great and I have no complaints. If anything faulty or negative develops I will amend it into this review accordingly.

2 THUMBS UP...and I breathe much easier now.More detail ...

Honeywell HFD-120-Q Tower HEPAQuiet Air Purifier with Permanent IFD Filter Black

So far so good -- and the oscillating is the best!4

I decided to get this air cleaner after trying the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze and a larger Honeywell HEPA filter. At the time of purchase the Sharper Image was the only one with a permanent filter. This was a big plus for me seeing as the older HEPA cleaners have 2 filters to replace the larger one being nearly the price of the machine. This Honeywell tower has a permanent filter.

There are many claims for and against the Ionic Breeze. I'm still undecided on how effective it is -- but I feel almost the same way about my large HEPA filter. I found myself running both of them to control my allergies. Although I cleaned them regularly and found dust on both I can't say the air was particularly different. However shortly after turning this on in the bedroom for the first time I could smell a difference. I haven't had it long enough to say it's made a real dent in my allergies -- plus the fact that my allergies are intermittant -- but I'm pleased that I even notice it.

One thing to note -- the Amazon description says there is an independently controlled Ionizer. I assumed that meant I could control it independently of the HEPA Unit. If that's the case I have yet to see how. It's not mentioned anywhere in the tiny booklet and there are no buttons for it. For that reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5. I did want to control the ionizer separately because I wanted to be able shut that off entirely. There are camps on both sides arguing for an against ionizers and some claim they make breathing worse -- so being able to compare with and without it was something I wanted to try. If anyone else knows how to do it then post it here. :)

Compared to the larger Honeywell that I own this one is much more quiet on each of its three settings. When I first read the description I didn't pay attention to the oscillating function. Now it's my favorite part of this cleaner. The oscillator is the thing that is independent of the cleaner -- and when its on the machine rotates in place back and forth blowing the air in an arc. I like this feature a lot and I think helps with cleaning a larger area. Maybe the ionizer is attached to this feature?

This unit is significantly heavier than the similar looking Ionic Breeze. Also the manual states it should be placed 3 feet from any wall or furniture. The cord is not that long and placing the cord behind some furniture to get to an outlet has made it nearly impossible for me to reach a spot a full 3 feet away.

Anyway so far I am pleased and would recommend this unit to some one who is looking for a compromise between those two types of cleaners.More detail ...
